1 Peter 4: 12-19

Reflect

When I read passages about suffering because of identifying with Christ, I often feel uncomfortable. I question whether my witness isn’t obvious enough to bother people, or if my witness isn’t being noticed because it is only seen by others who are likeminded. So far, I have suffered very little for my faith, but I know people who have suffered greatly for standing with Jesus.

I wonder if I were in their shoes, would I have the same courage and determination and effect that they have had?

As our world grows in darkness, surely our light will become more bothersome. We can expect “push back” as we live for Christ. Peter says that when this happens, we should rejoice, we will be blessed, we should not be ashamed, but praise God that we bear His name. We should commit ourselves to our faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Here is an interesting question to ponder: “If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”
