Proverbs 21:1-16
Reflect
There are a number of prominent threads that stitch the Bible together. One crucial one is that the Bible is immensely clear that lying is sinful and hated by God. As He is Truth, lies are from Satan.
Verse 4 reveals there is a godly way to amount profit--that is to be diligent, to work hard and earn a living through honesty, good reputation, and treating others in a manner that enhances their life.
Contrast that with verse 6 which identifies there is another way to make a fortune. It is by lying through your teeth, by proclaiming truth in a manner that is convincing to those desperate for someone to believe in to make their life better, regardless of how it will devastate the lives of others.
Clearly, as people that worship the One we proclaim to be Truth, it would seem common sense that we would discern that the one making his fortune by lying is but a “fleeting vapour and a deadly snare”. Unless, we have been trapped in that very concealed snare and are slowly dying to the voice of Truth.
How do you remain alert to the subtle persuasiveness of a hypnotizing lie?
How are your plans today revealing that you are an advocate for Truth in words and action?
I’m always open to listening.
